Everything's included and everything just works — sorted before you arrive.

Designed as a home on wheels: comfortable, cosy, and yours for the trip.

Real people, real answers, whenever you need us on the road.

Named after New Zealand's native birds, off to the wild places they call home.
About us
Hi, we're Lauran and Nikki. For years we dreamed of leaving the Netherlands behind and living closer to nature. In February 2024 we came to New Zealand in a campervan to see it for ourselves, and fell for it completely. Somewhere along the way, “one day” turned into “why not now,” so we made Aotearoa home, our son Ollie included.
JustGoodCampers is how we share the country that captured us. When you pick up your camper in Auckland or Christchurch, it's already packed and ready, with no surprise fees at pickup. We're small on purpose: message us and you're talking to us, not a call centre.

Our hosts
Not every camper you see here is ours. A few are owned and run by local hosts we've come to know and trust — people who look after their camper, and your trip, the same way we would our own.
Book one of their campers and you deal with them directly: they take the payment, hand over the keys, and are on the other end of the phone if you need them. We just make the introduction.
Like Jort & Margot, who own and run the Tūī — they love pointing travellers toward the quiet beaches and good coffee stops most people drive straight past.

Auckland is where most New Zealand road trips begin — it's the country's biggest city and its busiest airport. Our campervan rental in Auckland hands you a fully equipped, self-contained camper and the freedom to point it wherever you like: north to the Bay of Islands, east to the Coromandel's beaches, or south through Rotorua and Tongariro towards the ferry.
We're a small, family-run team, and every camper leaves our base ready to live in — bedding made up, kitchen stocked, camp chairs in the back — with one honest all-in price and no surprises at the counter. Pick up in Auckland, drop off in Auckland, or travel one-way to or from Christchurch if that suits your route.
Both campers hold a current NZ Certificate of Self-Containment, so you can freedom camp at designated spots around the North Island — a quiet cove on the Coromandel, a lakeside pitch near Taupō, a clearing out on the East Cape. You're not tied to holiday parks.
Most of our guests are seeing New Zealand for the first time, and we're right here in Auckland to help. Just landed? We'll pick you up from the airport with the camper ready to go — see our Auckland Airport pickup page. Not sure how far north or south you can get? Ask us; we love helping people plan the drive.
What's included
When you collect your camper, it's ready to go. Nothing to buy, nothing to add, just grab the keys and start your trip. A warm, cosy setup, the JustGoodCampers way.

Pots, pans, plates and cutlery. Everything to cook a proper meal on the road.

Duvets, pillows, and fresh linen. Just bring yourself.

Set up outside at the end of the day and actually enjoy where you are.

Everything you need to leave the site as you found it.

Leave what you don't need with us, and pick it up when you return.

We collect you from the airport when you land, and drop you back when you leave.

The process
From first message to first sunrise.
Drop us a message or WhatsApp with your dates and how many are travelling. We'll tell you which camper makes sense and give honest advice on timing and routes.
We pack your camper with fresh bedding, cooking gear, and everything on the included list. It's ready when you arrive.
Pick up your camper and go. New Zealand is yours. We're on WhatsApp the whole time — whether it's a flat tyre or just a good camping spot recommendation.
Auckland puts the whole North Island — and a ferry to the South — within easy reach: beaches, geothermal parks and some of the best first-trip drives in the country.

“We loved how simple everything was. No confusing extras, just a comfortable camper and honest service. Being able to store our empty luggage was a huge bonus.”
“From the first contact to returning the camper, everything felt easy and well organised. Friendly people, clear communication and a great setup.”
Yes. Auckland is our home base, so your camper is prepped and ready for you there. Choose Auckland as your pickup (and drop-off) when you book — or travel one-way between Auckland and Christchurch.
Yes. Just landed at Auckland Airport? We'll collect you and hand over the camper ready to go — the transfer is included. See our Auckland Airport pickup page for how it works.
Yes. Pick up in one city and drop off in the other. A one-way relocation fee and a longer minimum rental apply, so it suits trips that cover both islands. The booking flow shows any fees before you pay.
For a first trip, the Coromandel loop and the Bay of Islands are hard to beat and both start within a few hours of Auckland. With more time, carry on through Rotorua, Taupō and the Tongariro Crossing. Ask us and we'll map it to your dates.
No. Both campers are under 6,000 kg, so a standard car licence works — plus an international driving permit or certified translation if your licence isn't in English.
Go just good.
Each of our campervans is named after an iconic New Zealand bird. Comfortable, reliable, and ready to explore Aotearoa. Which one suits your journey?
